Beyond PMS

Hormonal fluctuations are a normal part of life, but their effects on mood, mental health and wellbeing differ greatly between individuals.

Beyond PMS investigates these differences across puberty and early adulthood, looking beyond ovarian hormones and the menstrual cycle to include endogenous hormonal variation in all genders.

By linking day-to-day hormonal changes with psychological and biological measures, the programme aims to identify individual patterns of hormonal sensitivity and develop biomarkers that may help explain why some people are more vulnerable to mental-health changes than others.
